Tatsat is a Sanskrit word that appears in the Chapter 17 of the Bhagavad Gita, signifying truth and purity.
Tatsat, as it is today, was conceptualized and started in 2006 to bridge the gap between eco-conscious consumers looking for contemporary “green” products, and the marginalized producers in the country who did not have a direct access to mainstream markets. Our focus was on providing an array of sustainable, contemporary lifestyle products to our customers. Sourcing from NGOs, self-help groups, green producers, tribal groups, individuals artisans and weavers, we have gradually expanded to over fifty groups spread all across the country.
What had begun as a “shop with a cause” has now evolved into a “socially-conscious store”. Our focus on the 3 Ps of people, profit and planet has helped us achieve the fourth P of prosperity. What had started as a store run by a single family now spells livelihood for over 60 families, who cohesively work together as one big community.
From a store in Hauz Khas in New Delhi, we are now taking our business online so that we can spread the joy and cheer that comes from being and buying organic.
